Bactericidal action of D-mannose solution

Abstract
|
|
|
Physiological saline, 1% amino acid and monosaccharide solutions were examined as to their suitability as a medium for the suspension of Salmonella typhi, Shigella flexneri and FEscherichia coli.
No significant difference among most of the solutions was noticed concering their bactericidal for preserving activity.
D-mannose solution was, however, exceptionally strong in its bactericidal action, compared with that of other solutions.
The mechanism involved in this particular action of D mannose was discussed.
